Day 31

Today I went to Hiroshima's atomic bomb museum. Here is a building that still stands after the bomb.

The woman at the top with the golden crane symbolizes Japan's desire for world peace.

The museum is in the background.

The bomb dropped at 8:15 which stopped all clocks in the area.

Hiroshima model of after the bombing.

Hiroshima model before the bombing.

A 3 year old boy was killed from the a-bomb while riding his tricycle. His father decided to bury him in the backyard but felt his son was too young to be alone so he placed the tricycle in the grave as well. 40 years later the father took his sons remains and gave him a proper burial.

Here is a painting documenting survivors trying to rescue loved ones who are trapped. In the picture the woman cannot help her loved one and can only pray.

Glass fragments surgically removed from victims of the a-bomb.

Victims of radiation would sometimes get spots over their bodies. These victims suffered internal bleeding and usually died.

A young girl who suffered severe burns from the a-bomb heard if one made 1,000 paper cranes they could wish for anything. These are some of the cranes she made before she passed away.
